Local Councillors to represent region at New York St. Patrick's Day Parade

The delegations will meet with business interest groups while in the US to discuss links to the region.

Councillors from across the Shannonside region will travel to New York this year to march in the St. Patrick's Day Parade.

A delegation from Roscommon County Council which includes Cathaoirleach Joe Murphy and Councillor Laurence Fallon will travel to the Big Apple on March 15th.

While Councillor Colm Murray will be representing Longford at this year's event.

The Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council Paddy O'Rourke a along with Councillor Mary Bohan will travel to the US in late April to attend the Leitrim Society of New York's 125th Anniversary.

However, Councillor Enda McGloin will represent the county in New York on St. Patrick's Day.

Each of the delegations will meet with a number of organisations during their trip including the IDA, Failte Ireland and the Irish Consul.

The councillors will also walk 5th Avenue with their respective county associations during the parade.
