A Longford councillor has called on the council to write to Minister Darragh O Brien regarding the removal of capital funding to private water groups. Cllr Garry Murtagh brought forward the motion at the most recent Longford County Council meeting.
In his motion, Cllr Murtagh says it's forcing people to consume water via an inter-connection to the Uisce Éireann network as is the case with two schemes in the north and south of county Longford. Speaking to Shannonside FM, the Longford Cllr believes the whole network will have to be replaced:
