There are 12 vacant jobs for social workers in community services in Roscommon, Mayo and Galway. The posts have been approved for the HSE West region.
The HSE says recruitment efforts are under way and continuing, in an effort to fill the vacancies. Councillor Valerie Byrne, from the Roscommon Hospital Action Committee, says the jobs need to be made more attractive:
