Local councillor elected president of the Association of Irish Local Government

Cllr Aengus O'Rourke succeeds Tipperary-based Cllr Mary Hanna Hourigan.

A local councillor has been elected president of the Association of Irish Local Government. The association represents city and county councillors nationally.

Cllr Aengus O'Rourke succeeds Tipperary-based Cllr Mary Hanna Hourigan. He is the first county Westmeath councillor to assume the role.
