A Longford councillor has defended the decision to have just three names on the ballot paper for the 2025 Presidential election.
It is now confirmed that Fianna Fail's Jim Gavin, Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys and Independent Catherine Connolly are the only three names in the hat for residence in Aras an Uachtaráin.
It's the lowest number of candidates on the ballot paper in 35 years.
However, Longford councillor Uruemu Adejinmi is happy with the confirmed candidates.
