Local car sales begin to recover following pandemic downturn

Reports show a huge increase in people interested in buying electric vehicles.

Car sales across the Shannonside Northern Sound region are recovering following a downturn in the last two years.

According to the The Society of the Irish Motor Industry 3,958 new vehicles were registered locally, up 514 from last year, a figure still lower than the market average in 2019.

The largest number of new vehicles registered locally was in Cavan where 1,177 new cars were registered, up 13 percent from 2020s figure.
