Local Bishop appointed Archbishop of Tuam

Bishop Duffy has served as Bishop for the Ardagh and Clonmacnois Diocese for the last 8 years.

Bishop Francis Duffy has been appointed as the new Archbishop of Tuam.

The Cavan native succeeds Archbishop Michael Neary who has served in the role for the past 26 years.

Francis Duffy was appointed as Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois in July of 2013 where he has served since.

The official announcement of his new appointment was made this morning at mass in the Cathedral of the Assumption in Tuam by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ireland Archbishop Okolo.
