Local animal welfare volunteers temporarily stranded in Germany

The volunteers were transporting rescued donkeys to their new home in Sweden.

Several members of a well known local animal charity have been temporarily stranded in Germany while rehoming animals.

Hungry Horse outside works with other animal welfare organisations across Europe to rehome animals rescued in Ireland

Members of the charity left the country last week with several horses and donkeys bound for new homes in Germany and Sweden.

Following the delivery of the horses over the weekend, the organisation's truck broke down, leaving two volunteers, six donkeys and a greyhound stranded in North-Eastern Germany.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound today, Hilary Robinson from Hungry Horse Outside says they hope to be back on the road this week and home before Christmas
