Local addiction services can still hold meetings with more than six people under Covid rules

People who require the help of addiction services and support groups in the region can still attend meetings where more than six people are present.

The Minister of state for Public Health and Wellbeing Frank Feighan has confirmed that drug and alcohol support groups can continue to operate, subject to strict public health measures

Concern had been expressed that groups such as AA, NA or Smart Recovery in Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and North Roscommon would have had to turn people away due to rules on not allowing more than six people at an indoors gathering.

The Sligo-Leitrim TD has confirmed that drug and alcohol support group meetings are not impacted by these restrictions and can continue to operate, subject to adherence to public health guidance relating to physical distancing and other protective measures.
