"Snámh" will be screened live in Pinewood studios next year and in Hollywood after that.

A short film depicting the sense of peace in open water swimming in Lanesboro has won a major Pinewood studios award.

''Snámh'' uses images shot over two years of Lough Ree and the Shannon by producer Lee Williamson and features the connection to the water by well know local swimmer Colm Daly.

With over 40% of the public vote, it won the online film fest, "Lift-off" and will be screened live in Pinewood studios next year and after that in Hollywood.

Snámh is now entered into a number of other festivals, and it's hoped will be available for open viewing later this year.

It was filmed during the Covid 19 lockdown and Lee says it captures the experience of time and community during that time:
