The National Public Health Emergency team made the recommendation, which has been accepted by Government.

NPHET is concerned by the rising number of hospital admissions and deaths, with 32 people dying from Covid-19 in September alone.

Four new deaths were confirmed yesterday, alongside 442 new cases.

Both Monaghan and Roscommon which had been considered for further restrictions have seen their caseloads rise once again last night, there were 20 new positive test results in cases in Monaghan, 12 in Roscommon, 11 in Longford, 10 in Cavan, Leitrim has also increased its rate of positive results .

They were among 442 positive results while four more people with the virus lost their lives.

Member of NPHET Dr Mary Favier says the new restriction reflects the concern of public health officials.
