A Limerick councillor says the local community in Newcastle West will rally around Roscommon Garda Inspector Niall Flood and his family following a serious accident last week.
Inspector Flood who's originally from Kilmore in north Roscommon was cycling on a road in Limerick on last Thursday evening when he was struck by a car.
Local Fine Gael councillor Liam Galvin says Inspector Flood is very involved in his local community and had been focusing in his work on the improvement of policing in the Newcastle West area.

Speaking on the Let's Talk show this afternoon Councillor Galvin says he hopes Niall will be able to make a good recovery.
