Leitrim woman encourages public to help tackle marine litter problem

A Leitrim woman is urging the public to do their bit to combat the county's marine litter problem.

Martina Healy who runs the Leitrim Litter Picker Instagram account is asking people to take part in the Clean Coasts 2 minute beach clean initiative.

The project which is facilitated by An Taisce works with communities to help protect and care for Ireland's waterways, coastline, seas, ocean and marine life.

Those who are interested in taking part can contact Clean Coasts and receive a special clean up pack with bags and other materials.

Martina, who is a climate ambassador for An Taisce says if everyone picks up one piece of litter on land it can have huge impact on our oceans.
