Leitrim Garda Superintendent Chris Grogan is appealing to people not to make the wrong choice this Christmas to drivers with drink or drugs in their system.
The garda officer says there's been an increase in the number of people detected driving 'under the influence' in recent months and it's something they are concerned about.
Superintendent Grogan is asking people to make arrangements to be dropped off and brought home from a particular function if alcohol is likely to be involved:
