Sligo Leitrim TD Marc Macsharry was given no choice but to resign from Fianna Fáil according to the Cathaoirleach of Leitrim County Council.
MacSharry resigned the party whip yesterday while voting no confidence in Minister Simon Coveney.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Paddy O'Rourke believes the events of the past month in relation to the Zappone controversy forced the hand of the local deputy.

Deputy MacSharry accused Micheál Martin of not listening to any of his party members and instead asking them to follow him blindly, branding party leadership as totalitarian.
