Leitrim election candidate wants more diversity on Council

The Social Democrats candidate, who moved to Carrick in 2015, has spent six years managing the local National Council for the Blind charity shop.

A Carrick-on-Shannon woman has said a better gender balance and more diversity are needed on Leitrim County Council. Originally from Panama, Lola Gonzalez Farrell, will run as the Social Democrats' candidate in this year's local elections.

Lola, who moved to Carrick in 2015, has spent six years managing the local National Council for the Blind charity shop. Speaking to Shannonside News, Lola said she there aren't enough women elected to the local authority:
