Leitrim Councillor Paddy O' Rourke is appealing to farmers to co-operate fully with safety procedures at marts in the New Year to make sure that some ringside bidding can continue.
The Fianna Fail Councillor says that despite the return to Level 5 restrictions for many sectors, the Agriculture Minister has agreed that some numbers of buyers will be allowed ringside.
The Leitrim Councillor says this announcement from the Minister is very positive because the cattle that will be sold during the coming months would be much harder to try and judge if the viewing was only allowed online.

He says though that this concession can only remain if everyone involved obeys all the safety regulations…
