A Leitrim councillor is calling for a review of the Residential Tenancies Board or RTB
The Board is an independent body set up to regulate the rental sector in Ireland, register tenancies, and operate a dispute resolution service.
Councillor Enda McGloin explained that he has been approached by a number of constituents who are frustrated by the difficulties they are having with registering with the service.
He says that a review of the service needs to be carried out sooner rather than later to find a solution.
''In terms of dealing with this, upgrade IT, bring in more permanent staff and that hopefully would resolve most of problems or else the Government will have to come up with a scenario where they give some dispensation to people regarding registering with RTB until these issues are resolved.''
