The survey was commissioned by Leitrim County Council and carried out by Bounce

Over a fifth of Irish workers are now fully remote according to a new survey from Leitrim County Council.

The commissioned report from the local authority shows more than half of those working remotely say it has a very positive impact on their work-life balance.

Four in ten think remote work has positively affected their spending, as there's less need to commute.

The data, released today, was compiled by Bounce on behalf of the council.

Leitrim County Council Chief Executive, Lar Power says many want to move to another part of the country.

'Quite interestingly I suppose, more than half of the Irish workers are considering moving to another part of the country, and the highest cohort within that is 61% in the 25-34 bracket are considering a move to another part of the country, so those are pretty startling findings.'

While President of Carrick on Shannon Chamber of Commerce Colm McGrath believes Leitrim is finally being recognised as a legitimate destination for working professionals.

Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, Colm says the county has so much to offer those leaving the cities.

'I'm living in Leitrim, must be 17 or 18 years now , and my friends laughed at me when I first said that I was going to move down to that neck of the woods.

But y'know I suppose the best thing we ever did, best thing for family, business, y'know you don't have that daily commute where you're sitting in traffic all day long.

Here it's five, ten minutes into work, it's easy to go and meet friends for coffee, go out for lunch, all those different things, and all the other things that we have , on our doorstep , the blueways, the greenways.'
