A small minority of council tenants in south Leitrim aren't maintaining their houses - which is bringing down their areas. That's according to Fine Gael councillor Maeve Reynolds, who wants Leitrim County Council to step in.
The maintenance of the outside of a property is largely a tenant's responsibility. But the council says it can carry out repairs if needed - and get the money back from the tenant. Councillor Reynolds raised the issue at a Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District meeting yesterday:
