Large turn out for local Darkness into Light events

A total of eleven Darkness into Light walks were held across the Shannonside region this morning at sunrise.

Hundreds of local participants walked , jogged and swam to raise funds for Pieta the suicide prevention charity.

These walks allow people to connect with their local community and bring hope to those who have been affected by suicide.

This year’s Darkness Into Light took place across 15 countries across 5 continents.

Walks occurred at 4:15 am across Ballinasloe, Glenamaddy and Ballinamore as well as Ballymahon, Longford Town and Ballaghaderreen.

There were also walks in Strokestown, Castlerea, Boyle, Roscommon Town and Athlone.
