The Independent was first elected in the Roscommon Municipal District in 2014 and was re-elected in 2019. Cllr Shanagher also served as a member of the Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board and is its current Vice-Chair.
Cllr Shanagher was also elected as Leas Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Chairperson of the GRETB, and Chair of Roscommon MD. She thanked her family for their support, all those who voted for her, and fellow councillors and staff at Roscommon County Council.
