Irelands hottest temperature recorded locally today

Ireland has been basking in some long awaited sunshine from early this morning, but it's likely to be short lived

The hottest temperature in Ireland recorded at 3 o' clock this afternoon was at the Mount Dillon weather station in Co Roscommon with the mercury reading 23  degrees celcius.

Moore Park weather station in Cork, Oak Park in Carlow and the weather station in the Phoenix Park in Dublin all recorded the next highest temperature of 21 degrees in the same hour.

Mullingar station was reporting 20 degrees at 3 o' clock , as was Gurteen in Tipperary, and Claremorris in Mayo,
