Investigation begins after death of murder accused in midlands prison

A number of investigations have begun into the death of a man at the Midlands Prison, who was accused of murdering his wife and children in Dublin.

Sameer Syed was due to stand trial at the Central Criminal Court next Wednesday but was found dead in his cell yesterday afternoon.

The bodies of his wife and two children, who were aged 11 and 6, were discovered at their home in Rathfarnham in October 2020.

There are no details on the circumstances surrounding his death.
