The centre is due to close later this month.

The closure of Longford Roller Rink is a catastrophic blow to Inline Hockey nationwide according to the chair of the sport's national organisation.

Michael Creane says the Longford facility is the centre for the sport in the country, with the only other competitive rink in operation located in Northern Ireland,

Set up in 2014, the rink in Mastertech Business Park is home to 3 regional teams across multiple age groups.

The rink has been rented by Inline Hockey Ireland to host all league games and much of the training for the sport's international team.

The club is now being forced to dismantle the facility this weekend following notice to vacate the property from the owner.

The club has called on the landlord to reverse the decision, and failing that, has urged anyone with a suitable large industrial unit in the region to contact them.
