Increased rainfall having major impact says Roscommon based farmer

She says that those in the agri sector are very conscious of the surrounding areas

A young Roscommon farmer says farmers don't have their heads 'buried in the sand' when it comes to climate change.

It comes as above average rainfall has put increased pressure on the agri-sector in recent weeks

Kelsey Daly is a farmer based in the south Roscommon area.

Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show, she says that those in the agri sector are very conscious of the surrounding areas and are trying to make the best out of the situation.

"They're already doing them, you can't say that they're not, like, all the green fields around the country. It's very visible and farmers are watching out. They're not going out on the likes of today spreading fertiliser or slurry when it's teeming down. They know that it's going to run into the rivers and everything.Their head is not buried in the sand. They're just trying to make as much as they can from what they have. It's very difficult for farmers to even push on to try and get as much as they can for their produce and as much as they can from their land".
