IFA want meaningful interaction with candidates on farming issues

The farming group are calling for meaningful interaction with incoming councillors on issues such as ash dieback, planning delays, land tax and environmental issues.

Local IFA reps are urging candidates and sitting councillors in tomorrow's local elections to keep lines of communication open with farmers. The Irish Farming Association have launched an election manifesto ahead of polling day tomorrow aimed at both the electorate and candidates. The farming group are calling for meaningful interaction with incoming councillors on issues such as ash dieback, planning delays, land tax and environmental issues.

Over 400 candidates responded to a recent Irish Farmers Association survey on farming issues, with association members urging voters to check the responses on the IFA website. Speaking to Shannonside FM News, Longford IFA Chair John Sheridan says that he expects ongoing new and returning councillors to stand by their election promises:
