Over 666,000 boosters or third doses have been given out so far, to over-60s, healthcare workers and those with compromised immune systems.

The HSE is encouraging the over 60s and health care workers to avail of upcoming walk in clinics for booster vaccinations.

Centres in Cavan, Monaghan, Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon are offering the third shot at various times either over the weekend or into next week.

Times are also allotted for health care workers, people who have had the one shot Johnson vaccine and those who have yet to get either a first or second dose.

Frank Harburn, General Manager for the rollout of the vaccinations in the Saolta hospital group, says the programme is being rolled out at the optimum time for each age grouping.

He says the information for each clinic is listed on the HSE website.
