The provision of a new large scale community nursing unit in Roscommon Town has moved forward with a significant step.
HSE West have applied for planning permission for the construction of the 50 bed Community Nursing Unit on the Golf Links Road in the Town.
Plans for the new Our Lady's and St. Joseph's centre include the demolition of 2 outdated single story accommodation units, existing generator room and catering staff changing rooms.
A new two-storey 50 bed Community Nursing Unit, a single storey kitchen unit and a building linking the residential accommodation.
Also included in the development are refurbishments for existing units and parking at the site, with a further 68 space car park to be constructed, including 15 bicycle spaces.
The application features various ground and landscaping works all in the vicinity of the Existing grounds of the Sacred Heart Home.
Roscommon County planners will make their decision on the development in June.
