HSE Chief urges the public not to panic over covid cases

Paul Reid was speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show earlier.

The public shouldn't be overly focused on Covid case numbers according to the head of the Health Service.

Director General of the HSE, Paul Reid says it's the hospital numbers that are the real focus points for the health service.

The Irish Medical Organisation says GP surgeries, hospitals and ICU's are under "extraordinary pressure" from the high levels of Covid-19.

According to the HSE chief, the country is set to report in or around a further 4,000 positive cases of Covid-19 this evening.

Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show this morning, the Leitrim resident said the nation is approaching a very tricky period in the fight against coronavirus.

He's urged the public not to become overly anxious when reading reports of new case numbers.
