The latest Health and Safety Authority report showed a 13% increase in fatal accidents last year despite the Covid lockdowns

The Chief Executive of the Health and Safety Authority says they will continue to work closely with the farming community in the region in an effort to reduce death and injury in the sector.

Sharon McGuinness was speaking today as the latest figures showed an increase in work-related deaths of 13% amounting to 53 people in total.

Agriculture continues to be one of the areas with a significant amount of deaths, and HSA figures between 2016 to 2020 showed six male fatalities in Roscommon over that time.
