How the Shannonside Northern Sound region voted on Family and Care

An average of 74% of voters across Roscommon-Galway, Sligo-Leitrim, Longford-Westmeath, and Cavan-Monaghan voted 'No' to the amendment on Family.

The Shannonside Northern Sound region resoundingly rejected the 39th and 40th amendments to the constitution.

An average of 74% of voters across Roscommon-Galway, Sligo-Leitrim, Longford-Westmeath, and Cavan-Monaghan voted 'No' to the amendment on Family. Whilst an average of 78.6% voted against the amendment on Care. The highest percentage of 'No' votes in the region against Care was in Cavan-Monaghan with 81.3%. Cavan-Monaghan also had the highest percentage of 'No' votes against the Family amendment at 78.1% An exit poll on the referendums - published today in the Sunday Independent - reveals high levels of anger behind the 'No' vote. Roscommon-Galway: Percentage 'Yes' on Family: 26%. Percentage 'No on Family': 74%. Percentage 'Yes' on Care: 22%. Percentage 'No' on Care: 78%

Sligo-Leitrim: Percentage 'Yes' on Family: 28.1%. Percentage 'No' on Family: 71.9%. Percentage 'Yes' on Care: 23.5%. Percentage 'No' on Care: 76.5%

Longford-Westmeath: Percentage 'Yes' on Family: 25.37%. Percentage 'No' on Family: 74.63%. Percentage 'Yes' on Care: 21.4%. Percentage 'No' on Care: 78.6%.

Cavan-Monaghan: Percentage 'Yes' on Family: 21.92%. Percentage 'No' on Family: 78.08%. Percentage 'Yes' on Care: 18.7%. Percentage 'No' on Care: 81.3%
