Hospital chief says Sligo staff doing best to manage increased Covid admissions

The hospital was treating 16 people yesterday with covid- the joint-highest in the country

The head of Saolta Group of Hospitals says staff are carefully managing the Covid 19 outbreak at Sligo University Hospital.

16 patients with Covid 19 are still being treated in the hospital and eight staff have been affected since the outbreak was first identified just over a week ago.

With full separation protocols in place and high numbers of people presenting at the Emergency Department the hospital, management is asking that those who can receive care through their GP to do so.
