A hosepipe ban for counties in the Shannonside region has come into force as pressure on the country's water supplies continues to grow.
Uisce Éireann is extending its Water Conservation Order to every county until August 26th, following weeks of hot, dry weather and exceptionally high demand.
Counties Longford, Leitrim and Roscommon are all under the ban which covers activities including watering gardens with a hose, washing private cars, and filling paddling pools.
