According to the report, counties in the Shannonside region had some of the highest rates of vacancy nationally.

Just over 10% of homes in the Shannonside region are currently lying vacant. According to Geodirectory's quarterly report for 2023, Leitrim recorded the highest vacancy rate in the country.

The average vacancy rate for Ireland in December 2023 stood at 3.9%. Dublin recorded the lowest vacancy rate at 1% in Q4 followed by Kildare at 1.1% , Meath at 2.4% , and Waterford.

According to the report, counties in the Shannonside region had some of the highest rates of vacancy nationally. 12% of homes in Leitrim were listed as vacant, the highest figure in the country.

Roscommon had a rate of 10.4% vacancy, the third highest figure nationally. While 7.7% of homes in Longford were recorded as vacant.

Across all counties, vacancy rates reduced marginally by 0.1% between December 2022 and December 2023
