The people of Rahara now don't know what can be done to save their area from rising floodwaters.

The Council admitted yesterday that it could not continue with works to alleviate flooding in south Roscommon.

Roscommon County Council will make a statement on the decision later today.

The works had got udnerway in May but were suddenly halted earlier this month.

Residents have highlighted the urgent need to have works complete before winter flooding becomes an issue.

There's frustration and anger among farmers and residents in the south of the county following the injuction.

The status of the project is uncertain until a judicial review into the planning granted last year is concluded by the High Court
