The death has taken place of 16-year-old Archie Naughton.
The Roscommon youngster passed away at the Mater Hospital in Dublin this morning.
His family had asked for positive messages and prayers for a miracle after he went into heart failure in the last number of days as a result of living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy for the last ten years.
The Join Our Boys charity was established to help Archie and his 10-year-old twin brothers, Isacc and George, lead as normal a life as possible despite living with the degenerative terminal disease since they were quite small.
Hundreds of thousands of euro was also raised by the charity to build a specially adapted home for the boys in Roscommon town in the last number of years.
Archie's death was confirmed this evening and his funeral mass will take place next Monday in Roscommon town.
