Harkin calls to keep supports for nurses suffering with Long Covid

The payment has been extended several times over the last year but is to come to a definitive termination at the end of March.

Nurses with long Covid feel like they have gone 'from hero to zero' according to a local TD.

Sligo Leitrim TD Marian Harkin highlighted the disappointment felt by nurses as the special scheme of paid leave for those who suffer from long COVID is coming to an end.

The payment has been extended several times over the last year but is to come to a definitive termination at the end of March.

Speaking in the Dáil, TD Marian Harkin called for long Covid to be recognized as an occupational illness.

Addressing the Tanáiste, the TD addressed the importance for supports to be made readily available to those running health risks because of their work.
