A local group has called on the people of Leitrim to stand united with refugees and those seeking asylum in the county. Leitrim For All describes itself as a coalition of individuals and organisations committed to ensuring a warm reception for new arrivals into the community. The group has circulated an open letter to the people of Leitrim highlighting the importance of inclusion and support.
It comes following reports that refugee accommodation in North Leitrim was blockaded by protestors last week. Speaking to Shannonside News, Leitrim For All member Adam Ó Ceallaigh says the protest is not representative of the Leitrim people:
