Granard recycling facilities moved following local concerns

Locals are highlighting repeated instances of bags of bottles being left in front of empty bottle banks.

Noise complaints, illegal dumping and visual amenity concerns have resulted in the relocation of Granard's recycling facilities.

Bottle banks previously located on Barracks Lane in the town have now been moved to Greville Court following a number of issues highlighted to Longford County Council.

The old site was regularly the target of illegal dumping of bottles and other waste in and around the bins.

Local residents also highlighted concerns of the noise caused during the use and emptying of the bottle banks and the negative effect the infrastructure had on the area's visual amenity.

Chair of the Granard Tidy Towns Committee, Philip Smith is concerned that the new location will continue to be the target of illegal dumping:
