The Garda Representative for the Roscommon/Longford division says this week's incident in Ardnacassa Avenue plainly show the need for more Garda resources locally.
A man was taken to hospital for treatment after he was hit by a van in the Ardnacassa area on Monday evening.
Subsequent videos posted online appear to indicate the incident may be related to a feud between local families.
Garda Dave Conroy says he's been calling for extra personnel to be deployed to Longford without success to deal with this kind of feuding for the past 4 years.
Garda Conroy says calls for more Gardaí to deal with the issue need to be taken seriously, before someone gets badly injured, or worse.
