Leitrim Gardaí are investigating a serious incident of criminal damage involving fire that took place early this morning.
Emergency services were called to the Summerhill area of Carrick on Shannon following reports of a car on fire.
Videos shared on social media from the scene show a vehicle ablaze in the driveway of a house.
In a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound News, Carrick-on-Shannon Gardaí says they are investigating all circumstances surrounding the incident.
Leitrim fire service has confirmed they received a call just after 2am and two appliances from Carrick-on-Shannon unit responded to a vehicle fire outside a house.
It's understood while the car was badly damaged, only minor damage was caused to the exterior of the building and the adjoining building. No injuries were sustained.
