Gardaí in Carrick-on-Shannon have detected multiple breaches of Covid-19 travel restrictions in the last 24 ahead of a large funeral in the town this afternoon.
Locals have reported large crowds gathering in a temporary marquee at the Shannonside View estate near the town.
It's understood that Garda checkpoints have been in operation on the N4 since yesterday afternoon with local units monitoring the situation throughout the day.

According to Leitrim Gardaí, they've detected several breaches of travel regulations, but no fixed penalty notices have yet been issued.
Last month several hundred people attended a funeral in the town with locals expressing concern over possible breaches of Covid or public health guidelines at the time.
