Another fraud involving several thousand euro has been reported to Athlone gardai over the weekend.
The phone scam involved a person claiming to be from the Supreme Court offices calling the victim to tell them their bank account had been compromised and advising them to download an app to rectify the problem.
The victim is then advised to give the caller control of their account so they can fix the problem.

Athlone gardai said it appears that 8 withdrawals of €1,000 were made soon after the scam call from the victim's bank account.
The latest fraud theft report comes after the attempted theft of €12,000 from a woman's bank account in the Athlone area last week.
