Garda mounted unit to patrol Longford Town as part of new visibility campaign

The Garda Mounted Unit is to patrol throughout Longford town this afternoon as part of enhanced policing measures.

The Community Policing Unit, led by Sgt Darren Conlon, arranged the visit of the horse led unit to patrol through the town, from the Garda barracks to the Royal Cana.

The visit is part of a rollout of extra policing measures for the town, as well as the UrbSecurity Project.

The unit is understood to be on patrol from lunchtime until mid-afternoon in the town and wider areas and will be visible on the streets, car parks as well as laneways of the town.
