Gardaí in Roscommon town are seeking the public's assistance following the theft of a substantial amount of cash from a house in the Abbeytown area.
The incident took place between midnight Thursday night and 2am on Friday morning.
The house in the Abbeytown area was temporarily vacant when the burglary occurred.
A large amount of cash was taken including some sterling notes.
Other items were also taken, including old veterinary equipment.
The detective branch at Roscommon Garda station is investigating the case, they have conducted a full technical examination of the scene, and are speaking to neighbours; they are also examining CCTV footage of the area.
Gardaí say it's an unusual incident for a generally very quiet area and are hoping to make progress in apprehending those responsible.
