Further discussions on Mohill streetscape plan expected after €2.5m funding confirmed

The controversial plan was amended by the Council after locals expressed their concerns over parking and other issues late last year

75 million euro has been awarded to regenerate buildings in rural Ireland into remote working hubs.

24 projects have been funded to turn run-down buildings, cinemas, courthouses and hotels into modern public spaces across rural Ireland.

Leitrim County Council has been successful in its application for two significant projects under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.

Two projects in County Leitrim have been granted special funding - including €2.5million for a major streetscape enhancement project in Mohill.

The project caused controversy last year among locals who were upset at issues around parking and the overall impact of the scheme.

Councillor Thomas Mulligan says that there will be more fine-tuning required on the plan before work gets underway:
