Former Longford Hotel under consideration to house Ukrainian Refugees

The former Hotel has been derelict for a number of years with planning permission granted in 2022 for it's demolition.

The Department of Integration have confirmed that a well known former hotel in Longford has been offered as potential housing for Ukrainian refugees.

The former Park House Hotel in Edgeworthstown has been derelict for a number of years with planning permission granted in 2022 for it's demolition. Confirmation received by local TD Joe Flaherty this afternoon states that the Ukraine Crisis Temporary Accommodation Team is responding to an offer of accommodation made by the property owners.

The Department of Integration state the discussions with the provider are at an early stage and that a full assessment of the property must take place before it can be deemed suitable. Department officials confirmed that the Community Engagement Team will provide detailed information to elected representatives should the property be deemed suitable.

Separately, the offer of use of the former Convent in Lanesboro for housing of Ukrainian refugees was withdrawn last week following attempted arson at the site. Deputy Flaherty told Shannonside Northern Sound News that the lack of communication around plans for Lanesboro was unacceptable:
