A former Longford county councillor says he's concerned that the new road between Mullingar and Longford may never get started due to the high levels of bureaucracy.
John Nolan who campaigned for the project over 20 years ago says he doesn't see any good reason why the project team for the route had to start from scratch, when the route was given the all-clear again by this government.
A preferred route option had been identified when the project was first given the go-ahead in 2010, and the former councillor says he doesn't understand why other options have to be put forward again.
He says that having to provide the new options and putting them out for public consultation, could well result in the project being put on the back burner again if the country's finances aren't in a healthy position …
