A Former OPW Minister and Local TD has shot down the idea of a single authority to manage the River Shannon.

Several local and national representatives have previously called for such an organisation to be set up to control the management, maintenance and navigation levels of the River Shannon. Kevin 'Boxer' Moran was the Minister with the Office of Public Works and a TD in the Longford/Westmeath Constituency before losing his seat in the 2020 General Election. He told Shannonside Northern Sound News that each local authority has a part to play currently.

The main issue, he says, is the management of pinch points on the river
